"How to go to Kilim Pension"
The nearest airport is in Kayseri, 100 kms away from Uçhisar.
Uçhisar is 7 kms from Nevsehir. If you come by coach, a minibus will pick you up in Nevsehir, you’ll say you go to Uçhisar and you’ll be dropped there. If you come by car, in Nevsehir first take Ürgüp direction, then after going out of Nevsehir you drive 4 kms and take Uçhisar direction on your left.
By bicycle, horse or balloon (yes, you can also fly by balloon in Cappadocia !) just follow the troglodytic castle of Uçhisar (lighted by night) like the shepherd star and you’ll reach your destination.
Once in Uçhisar, go up to the central square (usually the minibus drops you there), there’s a small park in the middle, a cash dispenser and telephone boxes. From there you can ask anybody for Kilim Pension or Sisik and someone will show you the way. I advise you to go to the grocer’s in front of the park, at the corner, “chez Kemal” ; he or his brother Ahmet will help you. Or else, it’s easy : you go by the restaurant “Uçhisar 96” (our friend Çiko’s place, another lover of Uçhisar and pigeons), you take the small street “Göreme caddesi”, you go on 200 m and half way up on your left, you’ll see the pension’s sign : “Kilim pension, la maison du Sisik”.
If you arrive very early in the morning or if the door is closed, go back to the square and ask for Sisik in the park café : the old men of the village will always know how to find him and he’ll soon turn up.
